The Moviola Minutes: 07.16.13

Architecture, Criterions, and Los Angeles make our list of today’s Moviola Minutes…

As if the Barnes and Noble sale wasn’t enough to wet your Criterion Collection appetite, the label has announced their October releases.  Get ready to empty your wallet all over again…

Speaking of Criterion, our friends at The Dissolve have a review of the re-release of Lord of the Flies.

The folks at The A.V. Club visited one of our favorite L.A. architecture in film landmarks:  the Bradbury Building.  Check out their story.

While we’re on the subject, if you’re obsessed how film depicts Los Angeles, we highly recommend Thom Andersen’s Los Angeles Plays Itself, which is on YouTube in its nearly three hour entirety.

Nelson Carvajal and Amber Sparks have a new visual essay on Guillermo del Toro over at Press Play.
